yeah i'm going to head thataway momentarily, thanks. superuser is installed and apparently working..when i ran the tether app is gave me a 'blahblah is requesting superuser status' so i'm assuming it is.

I followed all instructions and it seems like everything took.. However when I go to install the recovery piece, I get "operation not permitted" errors for everything. Any ideas? How do I tell whether or not the root was a success? Edit: I'm guessing the rooting part worked. I just installed...

I am, however, able to get it to work using another app/method. I downloaded 'Quick Settings' from the Market. After installing the app, I opened it, pressed Menu>Customize and scrolled down until I found 'Wi-Fi Hotspot'. Dragged that up towards the top of the list (as long as its visible)...

does not work on my stock optimus s. thanks!! edit: upon actually trying to connect to the network with my laptop, it was unable to secure a connection, regardless of whether the network was open or had wpa turned on. stinks. :(

Actually, derp. I just manually shut down and restarted the phone and now wireless is back up and working fine. Strange. Mods can close this thread if they wish. Apologies.:-[

I just got the SD Card update for my barely 2 week old Optimus S delivered by Sprint (I came here too late, otherwise I would've refused it) and it seems that ever since the update completed and my phone rebooted, my wireless doesn't work. I'm on the same network the phone is trying to connect...
