Was in the same boat.
My problem with Pie is the blocking of call recording.

I do not like swipe to call or answer.
If you go to Settings, Accessibility, you have an option named "Single tap mode".
Enable it and you can just tap the button to answer and end calls.
No more swipe to maybe answer calls
Just received the update, but I will not yet update reading that Pie will no longer support 3rd party call recorders.
Anyone on Pie and able to record calls? Not through phone speaker of course.

All the smartphones I had, 0-20% to 100%. Always.
And I change my phones every 3 years or more. Never had a problem with batteries.
Most people I know that will randomly charge their phones (and laptops) whenever they feel like it = low battery life.
re: Error: "Touch input blocked."
The error showing up and the sreen turning on is annoying for me.
I enabled the option to not have the screen turned on every time something is accidentally touched while in pocket.
It defeats the purpose.
