It seems like whoever was in charge of getting screen shots of the Droid for this update manual had no access to a WiFi network, so s/he had to power up a Mobile WiFi hotspot in order to create it. Very interesting to have a lack of WiFi at either Verizon, Google, or HTC ... or they don't allow...

Just out of curiosity, why do you need it to work in landscape mode? But you are correct, the Eris, at least in 1.5 form, does not support the calendar in landscape mode.

Easy to find out for sure. Go to VZW.com and when u select the Eris (or any phone for that matter) change the drop down box from 2-year to month-to-month. It will update the price on the page and that's the no contract aka full retail price.

Yes u can. See my post above. U can do the second option even if u don't have service with vzw right now. Just buy the phone for full retail, go month to month, then cancel once the phone is up and running. Pretty simple.

If ur eligible for an upgrade, buy the phone, resign a contract, add the data plan, then call VZW to have ur old phone activated. Then u can drop the $30 data plan. If ur not eligible for an upgrade ur choices r a little slimmer. U can buy the phone for full retail, activate it as another line...

Not that u can or should trust what reps say ... the rep I purchased my Eris from said 2.0 was coming to our phones "next week". I guess we'll see!
