did a factory reset to no avail.

okay so it seems like the volume up button isn't responding. it pushes down fine but doesn't work for whatever reason. i tried raising the volume with my phone on and it doesn't work. volume down works but not volume up. i guess this is why I can't access the recovery menu.

they told me that the phone can be in any condition but there can't be a battery problem. I had to install about 8 updates to the phone and I still can't get to the wipe cache menu. volume up + home + power doesn't do anything besides start the phone up normally. the phone is running on android...

does a factory reset essentially clear the cache partition? Probably a dumb question but that's probably my next step.

LOL. I haven't used the phone for years. I'm going to get an s24 and I'm surprised they're giving me 800 trade-in credit for an s6. That is why I'm trying to get it to work. I'd rather trade in that old s6 instead of my current s8.
