I'm surprised no one has mentioned Skyfire. As silky smooth as opera, but it handles flash flawlessly. And unlike stock or ICS+ it has no lockups or reboots. Try it...

[GUIDE]Updating to rooted gingerbread WITHOUT flashing a new ROM or wiping your phone

Re: [GUIDE]Updating to rooted gingerbread WITHOUT flashing a new Same here. I went from 4,22 to 4.24 using RA recovery with no issues. This was after many failed attempts at doing the the same via either CWM recovery 3.0.0.5, or stock recovery extracted from the 4.22 download. Hadn't...

Yes you can do the OTA update if you've unrevoked forever..here's how!

Re: Yes you can do the OTA update if you've unrevoked forever..he The issue appears to be that I can't really get back to Stock Recovery after the GB1 update. I apply the stock PC36IMG (tried various different versions) via VolumeDown-PowerButton, and it says the update worked, But, a...

Yes you can do the OTA update if you've unrevoked forever..here's how!

Re: Yes you can do the OTA update if you've unrevoked forever..he I'm also having trouble getting this latest update applied, but I haven't lost root. 1) I applied the PC36IMG from the 1st GB OTA to go back to stock recovery. This seemed to go ok. 2) Deleted that PC36IMG from sdcard. 3)...

Yes you can do the OTA update if you've unrevoked forever..here's how!

OK, I got it to respond as expected after a battery pull. Just flashed the clockworkmod recovery, installed su, and am back to rooted. I notice with GB, a quick power button push DOES NOT cycle the phone like it did previously with Froyo, unless I pull the battery, then do the recovery re-boot...

Yes you can do the OTA update if you've unrevoked forever..here's how!

I'm having an odd problem. I was on the 3.70 stock rom, rooted wth unrevoked, and s-off. I re-installed the 3.70 stock recovery. Took the OTA update. No problems. Upgraded to GB. I then put ClockWorkMod recovery (PC36IMG.zip) back to the root of sdcard. However, now, pushing volume rocker...

    3.70.651.1 and 4G lag question

I just completed the update. For me, the 4G lag issue appears to be fixed. I'm at home, and typically just use wifi. But, I've only turned 4G on and off a few times now, and have not experienced any phone slow down at all. Can't make any statements about 4G and battery life improvements yet...

    3.70.651.1 and 4G lag question

The "4G lag" issue I'm referrring to has nothing to do with 4 speeds. It is a well-documented issue. It refers to the phone becoming very slow (almost unusable) after enabling 4G, then disabling 4G. I typically have to reboot to get the phone back to its usual snappy performance. For me, it...

[ROOT] Using SetCPU + Perflock Disabler to Save Battery, Underclock

I'm using the Froyo OTA, but rooted with unrevoked3/unrevokedForever. However, I think I might have to take back the assertion in my previous post (that setCPU made no difference). I double checked some settings I had made, and am now using the settings that match those of the OP. Since that...

[ROOT] Using SetCPU + Perflock Disabler to Save Battery, Underclock

Question for the OP.. Are you still getting what you consider better battery like with SetCPU after you updated to Froyo? Also, do you still run that Task Killer? Isn't it possible your improved battery life is due to the TK? A better control would be to remove the TK, then to try the...

Thoughts on Droid X being rootable?

I am kind of in the same boat. Primarily, wifi tethering is what I want/need. So, when you say you don't use "custom roms", does that mean you opt for an "unrevoked" type of root, if available? And, if so, what do you do when an OTA update comes out that will benefit your phone? Or, are you...

Compilation of RANDOM REBOOTING issue - advanced users, please read and help.

No random reboots for me since the last OTA update. I only had the reboots on one of two EVO phones. Not one has occurred since the update. For me, the reboots seem to have been related to MASSIVE background data xfer on the Sprint network, prior to the update. I used the free Network...

Major battery improvement because of update?

OTA updates are permanent. If you factory reset, no need to do these again, and I don't think it's even an option.
