The upgrade was put on hold when an issue was found around authentication to Microsoft Exchange for corporate users. Once the issue is corrected, they should re-enable the upgrade for anyone that didn't get it yet.

I have a D2G and the update is fantastic. I think the only time since the end of last week that I restarted my phone was a battery pull because the physical keyboard started to process some keys as shortcuts. That issue also occurred pre-Gingerbread.

Wifi isn't working anywhere? Did it worked before you rooted it? Have you tried any program like https://market.android.com/details?id=com.farproc.wifi.analyzer to see what it reports? Give us something to go on - what did you do to your device, did it used to work and what have you tried?

How are you turning cell data off? If you mean enabling Airplane mode, that disables all wireless connections.

The WiFi is your data connection at that point. Do you have some need to use cell data vs wifi when wifi is enabled and connected?

BluePlate - I have the same hotspot as you describe. Doesn't bother me and I imagine replacing it would change nothing. I just wanted to reply as confirmation of what you are experiencing.
