    New update

Definitely after Android 9 (Pie) has been released, because that's already happened for Pixel 2 users. But nobody here can give you an accurate answer about the release date. We know that 8.1 is currently being soak-tested in Brazil and India, for (at least some) people on the Motorola Feedback...

Where are we all with security patches?

There's been a slight improvement. My partner's E4 ('retgb' software channel) got another security update today, September 6th (the second update within a month - amazing!). It's been updated to the June security patch, so there's now only a three month lag.

Where are we all with security patches?

Thanks for that info. To illustrate my point about different rates of update for different regions, my partner's E4, bought in the UK and on the 'retgb' software channel, yesterday received the first security patch since the one I mentioned above, which happened in May but updated her phone to...

    Motog5 fast charge

It's perhaps worth saying that the G5 (S, Plus) will also charge with a normal charger - just a lot slower.

    New update

Remarkably, the May and June patches also reached the 'retgb' software channel in the UK. That's better!

Have you got the June security update yet?

I suspect it was an oversight, as the files were available for sideloading at the usual times. There were a couple of threads about the missing OTA updates in the Nexus Google Groups forum (which includes the Pixel C - the Pixel forum is for the phones) and one or both of those may have been...

Have you got the June security update yet?

Interesting. Mine still hasn't turned up - I checked a couple of hours ago.

Have you got the June security update yet?

Have you got your June security update for the Pixel C yet? I haven't, and some people in the Pixel 2 forum have been saying theirs has arrived late, or not yet. I wondered if there is any problem. I checked, and the June patch files for the C do exist. Maybe I'm just at the end of the queue for...

    June Security OTA?

May be off-topic, but my Pixel C tablet hasn't got its June update yet. I think I can remember one other month when it was this late, so I'm not worried. I know the C won't get Android P but I think security updates should continue for a while yet.

Where are we all with security patches?

My partner's E4 has just had a security update from Oct 17 to Jan 18. Better than nothing, but why isn't it updated to at least April? She's in the UK and bought her phone from a retailer, so she's on the 'retgb' software channel. I know from my experience that the UK is generally behind other...

    New update

Well, I was wrong. My G5+ (channel retgb) has just had a security update! It's gone straight from November 2017 to April 2018. That will do for now.

    New update

Which just confirms that the reply I got from Motorola about the retgb channel being obsolete was rubbish. Hope you enjoy your G6+, Macdtek. It looks like a good phone and a decent upgrade, but I'll keep my G5+ for now as it's working OK, despite the absence of security updates. I suspect that...

    New update

Here's the reply from Motorola UK support to my response to their first answer. This one is a bit more informative, though still unspecific: "Certain devices, for example Z2 Force only has "reteu", so it seems "retgb" will eventually disappear. In the past, channels were more important...

    New update

I've replied to Motorola support and again asked why security updates for retgb have stopped. Macdtek, perhaps you'd like to reinforce this? Getting to the contact form on the Motorola UK website is a bit tricky but it is reachable with persistence.

    New update

Here is the response I got from Motorola. The link mentioned in the message (all the links except for the blog all go to the same page) is not helpful. I love that the G5+ is now called an 'older device', but it's probably based on a misunderstanding. All the countries mentioned in the...
