Foxfi is for wireless tethering and pdanet is for wired. They always know when you are using a third party tether app but it doesn't matter now because the FCC stopped Verizon from being able to block people from doing so.

I can tell you now that it doesn't matter what phone you have if you stream anything off the web it's going to kill your battery very fast. This is just the way it is and it's not the phones fault. I use tune in radio for streaming talk radio while I work, and if i'm not turning my screen on...

you are late to the party man :P lots of people have already run it and it's loaded with bugs. Do not mess with this yet because unless you are highly skilled then you will regret it. Really this should never have been leaked because it's causing major issues for people.
