Do you folks have any tips to get more out of the stock battery? I'm waiting for Verizon to get the extended back cause they are sold out online and at my local store. My phone didn't make it to dinner yesterday and I turned off sync at around 3pm due to low battery warning I barely used to phone at work, I cannot believe how poor this battery is. All tips would be AWESOME!

Root and freeze bloatware will do wonders. Keep extra like Bt,sync, gps,erc off unless using them. Use wifi instead of data when possible. Maybe try the app juice defender as many people have had good results with it.

I've tried JD and it works but all it does is turn off the data radios, and during the day if I get an email I want it to be instant. I'm probably going to root and freeze the bloat, but I'm crossing my fingers that ICS is right around the corner

How long have you had the phone? Have you fully cycled the battery a few times. Mine lasts all day now with no problems. So far the ONLY thing I've found that kills the battery is games.

Yes its got a lot better after a week of full charging, but I stream radio using the radio.com app for a couple hours a day and it destroys the battery.

If you're streaming over 4G, that would be your culprit. LTE sucks battery power big time. If at all possible, switch over to wi-fi.

If you're already on wi-fi, maybe you could switch to local playback. You know, music from your microSD card...

I can tell you now that it doesn't matter what phone you have if you stream anything off the web it's going to kill your battery very fast. This is just the way it is and it's not the phones fault. I use tune in radio for streaming talk radio while I work, and if i'm not turning my screen on and off constantly I can get around 3-4 hours of streaming. My cousin uses pandora to stream music and says he can get around 8 hours. I don't know if that is true since I've never used pandora on my spectrum.

Yeah I need my talk radio daily to get through work, I'm on 3g no lte in my area yet.

If you're not on LTE, then switch it off. On my EVO I found that LTE was switched to ON as the default setting.

Is there a problem with charging while using, such as, streaming while it is plugged in, assuming you DO let it drain down first?

You can also use apps that manage your wifi and data connection automatically as to turn this battery draining stuff off when your screen goes off. Apps that I know of Battery Save Junky Pro and Juice Defender..

Turn of 4G. It has drastically improved battery for me. Also buy the 3800 MaH battery on Amazon. its cheaper at 13 bucks-ish. It makes the phone bigger but it actually feels better to have a little junk in the trunk and the curve on the back of the phone feels nicer when watching long videos or playing games... If you are on the ICS update then download this app called Phone Info. On ICS the native ability to turn of LTE was disabled for me and I guess everybody else yeah? The app lets you turn off LTE and let you use CDMA only. Very helpful app.

Just wanted to give you the heads up. That in the new ICS Android 4.0.4 update there is a power saver mode. Which you go do things like say at 50% battery left you can automatically dim the screen to 30% and turn off blue tooth and wifi when not in use.

Also you can use a free app called "timeriffic" and you can schedule certain things to go on and off at certain times. Remember to always use wifi over 3g/4g as it uses less battery.

If you don't mind having a hump on the back of your phone, get a extended battery. I have a 3000mah battery and it's well worth the cost of it. I think there are even bigger ones like 3800mah or 4000mah batterys. Keep in mind that when getting a larger battery they usually come with a extended back to them to accommodate the larger battery. So, check and make sure any cases you have for the phone is going to work with a larger battery.

This is what I got and it's well worth it.
