When you are actually in the camera app, up top where HDR is if you choose it, then it will list out the options. Similar to the flash options.

The enhanced mode makes HDR photos in low light settings come out better. Give it a try, I think you will be impressed. I really like it for taking pictures in late evening/ bars. I have noticed low light photos are much better now at those times.

I don't know if it is just in my head, or Google photos processing photos better, but the camera seems to be taking even better pictures than when I got it last October.
