T-Mobile unlimited data plan -- surcharges?

$30 at most and less if you manage to snag slightly discounted prepaid cards on eBay.

Does changing the APN affect the phone's ability to connect to towers and/or get LTE?

I should've clarified at 5:33pm, I almost never get LTE in my house with TMO. When I do, it's a pleasant surprise. But after changing the APN per the instructions in the link in the opening post, I can get LTE. It's not fast LTE, but it's plenty for web-surfing! I'm starting to wonder whether I...

Does changing the APN affect the phone's ability to connect to towers and/or get LTE?

I was wondering why my tethering had been unusuable for a while. Followed the instructions here (http://forums.androidcentral.com/moto-x-rooting-roms-hacks/361831-unrestricted-tether-t-mobile-no-root.html) to see if I could get it back on my Nexus 4 which has the older LTE/HSPA+ modems flashed...

Google Play app revenue will surpass Apple's by 2018?

Would've happened already if Google hadn't tied their hands by offering the carriers a cut of the app revenue in exchange for carrying Androids.

    Android L Update

Awesome sauce! Really excited to hear the one downside of my phone--battery life--will get a huge boost. I always felt this was the final frontier on the software side of things. This will probably be the single biggest battery booster for Android until we get graphene commercially viable.

Why do (Android) phones need so many cores?

I don't think Android necessarily needs so many cores. I think a better question is why Androids tend to in general have mediocre battery life and why more of them aren't optimized like the Moto X (yes, I know a good part of the reason is the new filing system, a subject for another day)...

Is your Nexus 4 still smooth?

Mine was nearly a year old when I got it. I've used it for nearly 2 months and it's still running smooth. Guess it helps that the previous owner took good care of it. Quite snappy and smooth.

Made a few booboos, need some help with TWRP

Thanks for the guide. The toolkit I linked fixed everything, got me rooted, and has allowed me to flash slimkat.

Made a few booboos, need some help with TWRP

Can't even mount from recovery to access my phone via USB. Had to go here: Nexus Root Toolkit v1.8.0 | WugFresh Hoping it works. Downloading the factory image via the toolkit. - - - Updated - - - Guide definitely looks legit, but I'm a bit unnerved by the OP there not giving specific...

Made a few booboos, need some help with TWRP

I wasn't able to properly root my Nexus 4 while using this guide. I wound up idiotically formatting the wrong part of my phone, so now my phone lacks an OS. Is there any way I can access my phone via USB? I'd like to install a stock ROM and start over clean!

What causes Android phones to lag over time?

It surprises me more XDA devs aren't trying to get this feature into their kernels.

Will the Nexus 4 get Android 4.5? If not, is there a good chance we'll get a port from XDA?

Question says it all. Rumor is that we can expect to see Android 4.5 to become available around June or July of this year. Assuming for a moment this is the case and taking into account the fact that this phone was released on November of 2012, is it safe to say this phone's outside Google's...

What causes Android phones to lag over time?

A lot of interesting info and tips posted here. It's all very helpful. Thanks for the app recs! I'll probably hold onto the N4 for 1.5-2 years and do regular maintenance as needed. Trim support sounds like it'll be a godsend compared to what I had with the G2x. My only worry at this point is...

What causes Android phones to lag over time?

Does rebooting clear anything? I may give DU Battery a try. Juice Defender seems to be great only for turning off my HSPA+ radio when the screen's off.

What causes Android phones to lag over time?

Hoping my experience is similar with my N4. I do plan to flash an XDA rom onto it. My old LG G2x was perpetually stuck at 2.3 Gingerbread no thanks to LG and required a rom flash to even get ICS. I didn't have too many apps installed on it aside from Waze, Mr. Coffee Card, ES File Explorer...
