FYI -- I ended up just unlocking the bootloader for now. This way if I decide to root in the future I can without having to worry about wiping my data.

Thanks for a response! I heard I can tether on verizon now without root? How can I do this? Also how long do OTAs take for google? Is this like 1-2 weeks later or is this verizon status of 1-2+months later?
