Forgot to mention, my N7 no longer has the error pop-up.

Here's my experience to add to the equation. It pops up only on a data connection and even popped up on my wifi only Nexus 7 2nd gen when not connected to wifi. I've reset network settings on my Nexus 5, no change. Factory reset fixed my N7. Haven't reset my N5 because I know the time and work...
