Annoying popup "check network connection and try again"

[AC Question]

I have an LG g3 and lately when I am playing any game that uses data I get a black popup with a picture of a cloud with a sad face and a message saying "check network connection and try again". It pops up pretty regularly. I haven't installed any new apps and I've checked all the apps that are running. I can't click on the message it just pops up and disappears. Any help would be great. I have a screenshot of it too.

Here's my experience to add to the equation. It pops up only on a data connection and even popped up on my wifi only Nexus 7 2nd gen when not connected to wifi. I've reset network settings on my Nexus 5, no change. Factory reset fixed my N7. Haven't reset my N5 because I know the time and work involved. I have Pinterest on both deviced, even other popular social media apps.

Forgot to mention, my N7 no longer has the error pop-up.
