Well just gave in and ordered gen5. I've read lots of negative reviews about battery life how long should it last? Obviously I should have returned my gen 4 but just assumed smart watches didn't last a day unlike conventional watches that lasted years or decades.

After taking the advice to do a factory reset on my Fossil watch because it was only charging to 84% and then stopping. It is now dying after 2 hours. Lovely. I literally watched it, go from 99% with a it'll be charged in 54 seconds. Probably there all night to 80% in the six minutes it takes...

Factory reset didn't change behavior. If anything it's worse. Three days in a row my watch went into power saving mode in under 3 hours of use.

I've done a reboot but not a factory reset. The model Is Q explorist 1814 With a July 2020 patch

Found the solution. Don't understand why but something in accessibility was conflicting with Google. Appears to be an HTC problem... Anyways turning off all access to all apps in accessibility fixed it.
