    weird virus pop ups?

This sounds like an advert I've encountered across the web. They pop up a lot when I browse forums, and even some news sites, methinks. But it doesn't actually mean there's an infection. It probably followed you around the web with a cookie and stopped showing up because you cleared the data.

    Is the brightness really bad?

That's very good news. It seems like many tests can often paint a different picture than practical usage.

    Will the price drop?

Any specials tend to be limited ($50-$75) within the first year. The sizeable price cuts (e.g. 50% off) tend to come a year after and during the holiday season. For instance, the Motorola Nexus 6 retailed for about $650. In December, it went on sale for $200. I'd expect a similar sale for the...

Is waterproofing really that important to you?

I agree. I think water resistance is great, but absolute water proofing isn't necessary for my needs. I don't take my phone swimming or have it out during torrential downpours.

Does pixel support all network bands!

It's set to work with Project Fi, and does support international bands.

All sold out (Google only, Verizon still has them in stock)

Re: All sold out It's probably a mix of both factors. They may have done a somewhat limited first run, based on initial sales projections, and then sales may have outpaced that.

AMOLED Screen in Pixel. Poor outdoors/sunlight?

It seems to be standard practice upon Nexus and now likely Google phones to incorporate the digitizer. While I can't find information on it, I see no reason why they would skip out on this feature. But like Jeremy said, it's going to come down the panel. Sometimes manufacturers will source...

Verizon's TV commercials claim Pixel only available on Verizon. Isn't that false advertising?

As others have chimed in, technically it's only available through the Verizon carriers. It's available to all carriers by extension of the Google Store, but not officially through the other carriers.

To all who said Google Assistant only works on Pixel Phones because of "optimizations"

And I imagine that we will see a wider rollout of Assistant, considering that the Allo Assistant is called a 'Preview.'

    Device Protection vs SquareTrade

I'd go with Google's plan. I haven't read the best reviews about SquareTrade's customer service. And plan or not, I'd recommend getting a ballistic glass screen protector. Those have saved my phone from needing replaced on multiple occasions

    Phone buying advice

Sub $500, I'd go with a Nexus 6P. Especially in the coming months, the price will likely drop below $375 with sales.

Google's Pixel XL priced like Apple's iPhone 7 Plus

Exactly. And we must bear in mind, this is Apple Insider. The name speaks for the inevitable bias. The Pixel has a good balance of specs, comparative to other phones in its bracket, and makes up for shortcomings with software.

    Screen Replacement Cost?

I'd much rather have a ballistic glass screen protector than end up replacing a screen. Self replacement is a very delicate process.

Is it possible for someone to take remote over an adroid device?

There's all sorts of ways a phone can be compromised and manipulated. .arm endings are nothing out of the ordinary. One of the best things for security upkeep is simply to have a phone with the latest security updates, like a Nexus or Pixel phone. And don't connect with public wifi without a VPN.
