It's survey time! Tell me about the software on your Samsung phone

A big thank you to everyone that helped me here. Y'all are the best. I have mastered watching fish swallow the hook and pull the drone under the water while I invent new swear words :) so, YES. :D

It's survey time! Tell me about the software on your Samsung phone

Hey hey ladies and gents. I'm doing a bit of unscientific research about how well Samsung has been doing when it comes to updates and you can help! If you have a Samsung phone and don't mind taking the time, hit me with the answers to these easy questions: What model of Samsung phone do you...

OMG the annoying persistent notifications. What a step back Google.

you would rather your phone not tell you it could be capable of file transfers and system commands when it's plugged into something? What about something like an airport charge stand? Or a hotel clock? That's cool if you are, but I think you can see the importance of this one. Others may not...

Samsung Secure Folder & JuiceSSH w/ Private Key - is it possible?

Try moving the key into the private area? Make a folder using the same file structure (/downloads/ or whatever and drop it in. it's likely that apps in the secure folder just won't find files outside of their sandbox (and if so, that's a good thing as far as privacy is concerned). I think you...

    Am I in the minority?

Call Google no matter how long it has been. Right now, while everyone is running around screaming BURN-IN OMGOMGOMG with the 2XL would be a really great time to mention it :)

    Am I in the minority?

I shied away from all of this noise until we found the screen burn (still not convinced it's regular OLED burn-in nor Image retention, because it acts like both at once). Had i wrote anything it would have been: The Pixel XL uses a GB<>rb subpixel layout. White is all extra blue brightness and...

How Come Sony gets Oreo First... what about us loyal Samsung users?

Samsung is building Oreo for their next phone. When we see a Galaxy S9 (probably February or so) it will be running the latest test version of their software with Oreo features baked in. Once it is sold the software will have been completed and production ready. Until they get things working on...

The local police are useless. I have told them not only is my phone hacked but people have rewired

Open the command prompt as administrator on your computer (I'm assuming you have a windows computer on your Wi-Fi network). At the prompt type netstat -abno It will look something like this. This is every network socket that is open on your computer. You will see the words LISTENING and...

Talk me out of getting a V30

That doesn't mean the music doesn't sound really good to the listener tho. A lot of these differences are inaudible to all humans, and even more aren't audible to everyone. If your ear does not hear a certain frequency, it doesn't matter how it sounds. If what you hear all sounds good, it's good.

Talk me out of getting a V30

Bluetooth is incapable of transferring a file higher than 24-bit 48Khz. And that's if you have a matched set of aptX HD equipment. Standard aptX equipment can only transfer 16-bit 44.1Khz quality. And either way it's compressed. Jaybird X2 earphones don't support aptX. They use the default SBC...

Are you thinking about switching your carrier?

There are like a million different phone plans from a bunch of different companies. And you can buy an unlocked version of most any phone that will work on one or more of them. That's good stuff! When there are more choices for any type of service, companies have to find ways to entice us to...

I really need help turning my phone on for 20 minutes, ASAP

The Android world is a big mess right now

Think of Android as GTK+ and Bison and ncurses plus other assorted libraries and a very tiny chunk of the software on a phone like a Galaxy S7. It's in no way an operating system when used the way Samsung (or LG or Huawei and others) use it. The only part of what we call Android that they use is...
