Try uninstalling GP Music and reinstalling from the Play Store. That might ensure you have the latest update. Or, if you enable the phone to allow installation from "unknown sources" via the Security settings, you can install the latest APK file from this link...

I've noticed that many of my apps on the battery stats screen show lengthy connection times. I'm thinking perhaps on Lollipop apps don't close out the way they did on 4.4 For example, the notification control for Google Play Music used to have an X that you clicked to close it. Now it's gone...
