It was the dumbest thing. Unplugged the USB, plugged it back in and then got it to work, go figure.

After installing Alliance ROM, now when I hook the S5 up to the computer, I get an error in the bottom right saying the device is not recognized and the phone doesn't show up in My Computer in Windows 7. I've tried a few different things, but can't get it to work. Any ideas? Thanks.

Is there a clear, step by step list of how to install custom ROMs that actually works and makes sense? This is on a rooted Verizon S5 SM-G900V with Android 4.4.2 (which was downgraded from 5.0). I would like to install either CyanogenMod or Alliance but can't seem to find anything that clearly...

Tried the download again and this time it got done in like 3-4 hours. The downgrade worked. I went with the oldest version 4.4.2 to make it easier to root. It did get stuck on the "big red" Verizon screen, so had to do the reset. But it worked! Thanks!
