Chromecast Can Cast Your Entire Desktop Screen Too, Not Just Tabs

As cool as it is, it is nowhere close to wi-di. It has really really bad lag when it's casting a tab. The videos I've watched (Youtube and netflix) are great quality, no artifacting, and no lagging. The tab casting is a completely different story. Hopefully they can fix that all.

    LTE in Dallas!

Awesome! I'm on AT&T and their LTE has been amazing in Dallas/Frisco. I'm grandfathered unlimited, but I've considered going T-mobile's true unlimited. I've just been unsure of how good their coverage is in DFW.

    Sometimes factory is better

I used Handcent SMS for the longest time (through a Nexus One, Skyrocket, and Note 2), just because of the quick reply feature. Now I took someone's suggestion and went back to stock, but I use SMS Popup for the popup feature. It works pretty well. It does fall victim to the issue you don't...

    Samsung keyboard vs swype

It's my understanding that the Samsung keyboard is built off of Swype's technology. It's noticeable that Samsung added a lot for the Note 2. It has the numbers row and also has the handwriting capability for use with the S-Pen. If you don't like the little extras that Sammy throws in, Swype is...

    Ingress beta invites

I signed up for beta on Ingress on 11/16 and got an invite on 11/18. My wife and a friend requested invites on 11/19 and still haven't received them. I've been playing since 11/18 and have not been given any invites to send out, nor do I know of any other Ingress players who have invites. If...

Remove wireless network available from notification

This is how I feel also. I know the status of my wifi because of the icon in the status bar. The ongoing notification clutters the notification area and makes it where I have to scroll down to get to some notifications. I only connect to wifi networks I know, so I don't need to see the name of...

Absolute best app to track down why WIFI stays on

What carrier are you on? It could be a carrier bloat app like AT&T adds their "Smart Wifi" app. If you're in an area where you have wifi connection, and you normally sync apps or any data like email in the background, you probably save battery by keeping wifi connected. It takes additional...

Remove wireless network available from notification

Go here and follow the instructions in the OP: [MOD] Remove the annoying ongoing WiFi Connected notification - xda-developers This removes ongoing wifi notification and the Blocking Mode notification as well. It obviously requires root. EDIT: Just realized you may be on VZW Note 2. This mod...

    S pen detection issues.

Are you using a custom launcher like Apex or Nova launcher? That disables it for me. The pen notification is the suggested apps that show in your notification drawer as part of Page Buddy. Using a custom launcher disables Page Buddy.

Handwriting Pad no longer coming up

Do you use a custom launcher like Nova or Apex? Using Nova makes it so that the Suggested apps don't show up in my notification bar when the pen is detached, so I don't know if it would do the same to your handwriting pad in the keyboard.

App that tells how much current (amps or mA) the device is drawing while charging?

Check my quote above, the file I originally stated was wrong. I'll do some digging. In the mean time, I used this app on my Skyrocket...

App that tells how much current (amps or mA) the device is drawing while charging?

Open up a terminal emulator and type "cat /sys/class/power_supply/battery/current_now" without the quotes. That will tell you. I'll see if I can whip up an app to do this. EDIT: scratch that, current_now isn't the right file. That will show you the current draining or something, but not the...

    Google Music

Nope, I believe the initial release of Google Play Music allowed you to save on the external SD, but they've taken away that option. There are a lot of tickets open for it on their support forums, but I don't think they'll change it based on the stance they're taking on external memory.

    Couple noob questions

I installed it on my mom's phone a while back, but I didn't play with it much. It probably has better functionality for managing your Yahoo mail than the stock browser does. Might as well give it a try.

First time Android user.. couple questions.

Swiftkey has "Flow" in private beta right now, it's their version of the swiping that Swype and the Samsung stock keyboard do (and Android 4.2). I use Swiftkey because the prediction is the best I've ever used. Or you can keep your eye out for the Android 4.2 keyboard when someone ports it to...
