Thanks for the responses. Perhaps I was not clear in the question. Since Verizon gives bad service in up north and AT&T has usable service, would I be able to connect to the AT&T towers easier if I set the phone to LTE/GSM/UMTS. Would that be like roaming?

I have a Galaxy S7 which has been a great experience. However, I am now looking at another upgrade. There are many new choices, S9, S9+ and Note9. There also is the fact that the S10 will most likely become available nex spring. Opinions regarding each choice wiould be greatly appreciated.

What happens if there is a special price or promotion including some goodies after the S9 is available at Verizon? My S7 will be paid off next month, so I think I may wait. However, from what I have read, I'm glad I didn't go for the S8 after the S7.

I have tried both GSM and CDMA. I recently went to the Verizon store with my question and was told the City has imposed restrictions on the amount of power used by cell providers. What a bummer. I am now petitioning the City to change same.

I get it for the Credit vs Debit issue. But, that does not disallow one using Samsung Pay. At least not around here.

The only difficulty I have had was in the early use stage. It does take some time at some places. I even had a refund from Verizon go through. My experience has been good. As for the terminals that take a chip card, they usually have a swipe area, as well (for those who don't have chip cards)...

Verizon offers a booster that uses your WiFi network at home. However, I tried it and it loused up my WiFi reception on my laptops.

Who makes the LTE network extender?

Verizon does have WiFi Calling. But, does that solve the problem for incoming calls, as well?
