I've learned recently that Nova Launcher is no longer being developed going forward. Among other things, I loved that I could back up my screen layout and restore it when I changed devices. Using the stock Pixel launcher, when I move to a new Pixel, is there a way to keep the home screen layout...

I have a checklist that takes a day or two to complete with a few dozens of passwords, misc customized settings etc. It's actually one of the reasons I only do a new phone every two years these days.

I found this quote in a 9 to 5 Google review - that I pretty much agree with. I'm going to hold on to my 9Pro XL for another year: "As an upgrade from the Pixel 6 through to the Pixel 8, it’s a solid buy. The rest? Well, the truth is, not so much."

Sticking with my 9 ProXL. As retirement priorities change things, happy to get a new phone every two years vs every year - unless I'm really unhappy with my current phone (which I'm not) or a new model really wows me (which it doesn't).

I used to get a new phone almost every year since the Nexus 6.I skipped the Pixel 4 and 7. I'm going to skip the 10 as well. I don't see anything compelling from the leaks that would enhance my daily use of the 9 pro XL. Oh, and I recently retired, so all expenses have to have a 2nd look.

Not a scientific study, but I'm estimating that only 10 to 20 percent of my Apple using friends have upgraded their OS so that we can mutually enjoy a better texting experience. What are you finding with your Apple friends? Thoughts why so many haven't upgraded?

I disabled them as well. Your point about being delayed is spot on. I found myself stressing about trying to figure out what I was supposedly stressing about!

I dunno.. back in the day when I used a film SLR for lots of photograhy, me and a lot of other pros used an assortment of screw on filters - there wasn't a concern. I can't see how a layer of glass imperceptively close to the lens is going to affect anything....
