Indeed, also my understanding based on the research I've done. But even after disabling any and all power-saving activities, it's as if the permissions never changed and notifications continued to be blocked. Seems to be most prevalent with Android 6.0.

Has anyone tried removing/reinstalling those apps which they no longer get notifications from? I might give that a try to see if anything changes. I also found this discussion which almost exactly describes the issue I'm currently experiencing: Problem with push notifications / sync not working...

This just recently started happening for me as well. I tried most of the suggestions above including setting some apps to "priority" notifications. I checked "restrict background activity" and it was initially set to on but I switched it back off. And actually, this all started a couple days ago...

Appreciate all the replies but rooting my GS4 has proved to be more difficult than it's worth. So I'm still running stock ROM. I think I will give TabletSMS a try. And stick with GV as my default voice mail handler.

It looks like you can send them and receive but it's tied to your Google Voice number, not your actual mobile number. And I don't see that it syncs your existing messages so that you can also see those with GV. That is what I was hoping to accomplish and why I went with MightyText initially...

I have both the i-Blason and the MoKo. There's really no difference between them IMO. The MoKo is a bit more slim than the i-Blason but operates much the same way in how it holds the N7.
