No, when you open the camera app..... it focusses on up-close like if you hold your finger up close, but will not focus on on anything further away. no matter what you do (apart from tapping on the lens itself) it won't focus.

Has anyone mentioned the malfunctioning camera focussing? I have experienced this and have seen posts regarding the same issue the 8+ has....... If you TAP the camera it will focus, but I don't think this solution ought to be an acceptable one....... It's happening more frequently now as well.
