camera out of focus 8+

Has anyone mentioned the malfunctioning camera focussing?
I have experienced this and have seen posts regarding the same issue the 8+ has.......
If you TAP the camera it will focus, but I don't think this solution ought to be an acceptable one.......
It's happening more frequently now as well.

Are you in Auto Mode? Do you mean that when you open the camera the Auto Focus won't work? If you tap to focus (and you mentioned that works), does Auto Focus 'kick in' as you move the camera around or does it 'stick' to that focal point?

No, when you open the camera app..... it focusses on up-close like if you hold your finger up close, but will not focus on on anything further away. no matter what you do (apart from tapping on the lens itself) it won't focus.

But after you tap to focus, does Auto Focus work again? I haven't experienced that on the Note 8, but also don't remember it from the S8. Only time that happened was when I was in Pro Mode and had focus set to manual. The 'subject tracking' mode might also interfere, but I don't think this kicks in unless you're doing video. But you can try disabling that if you have it enabled.

Yes after you tap the lens it does work......
Not even sure how you get into PRO mode

Mmm... that's weird. I did have focusing issues with a Note 4 I believe but that just wouldn't focus at all (focus got stuck). If you try a 3rd party camera, do you have the same issue or is it just with the stock camera app? Does it always happen? If it's an app thing, I wonder if clearing the camera app's cache/data would help. You'd probably have to re-do your preferred camera settings but it's worth a shot (no pun intended).

So... did any of that help? or is the issue still there? If it doesn't help, especially if you've tried booting up in Safe Mode and it still happens, then I'd probably ask for a replacement if you're still under Warranty.

I have the exact same issue.

Surprised more people are not seeing this..

Focus only works when I place my finger up close to the lens and then move my finger away. Thought it could be a software issue.

Just a quick update.. called into the samsung store in the Trafford centre today and showed them a video on my camera where it took 2 minutes to focus. They advised it is a known problem and logged the phone in for a repair.

2 hours later phone is back and the problem seems to have been fixed.

Not exactly sure what they did, but it is now working.

My advise is get it booked in for a repair asap.

Dear Lisa,
I run in to same with my S8 phone... actually nothing help ,not even tap the screen.
But when I used Bixby vision option it fixed the auto focus back.
Hope it helps .

It is a known issue. If possible take it to a Samsung store and they can fix.
