Yes that is right, when it is connected to cell service and wifi off, I usually get full bars in my room and even the wifi is near enough to maintain full signal

Sorry for the late reply. With airplane mode turned on, or even just turning the WIFI off, the battery drain is reduced, i can say like before overnight with the WIFI on i was losing around 10-15% sometimes upto 20% of battery but with airplane mode on or just turning the WIFI off the battery...
