First, 16-1/2 hours of battery time just using 48% of the battery (that's what your screenshots say) isn't something to complain about, it's something to brag about.

Second, Android System used 8% of that 48%, or 3.84% of the battery - in over 16 hours. That's not bad either.

Third, the screen is normally the largest consumer of power. With an AMOLED screen, if there's a lot of light color showing (as opposed to solid black wallpaper, that uses even more. The brighter the screen, the more current an AMOLED screen draws. So turn the brightness down to the point that it's still completely usable, but not all the way up. (I find that 20% is more than enough in my house. Just tell the Google assistant "set the screen brightness to 20%". If you need a little more, try 25% or 30%.)

But you're bragging with that "50% in 16.5 hours". A lot of people wish they could go from 100% to 20% (which is bad for the battery) in 8 hours. Their batteries don't last a whole workday.

Chaos Beck isn't alone.
I've gone from morning to night on one charge, to morning to noon on one charge on my s7. Oreo is eating the battery like some people eat Oreos.

thanks mate but still my battery is performing poor after applying those settings i dont know what is keeping the android system usage so high

GUYS I FOUND THE SOLUTION!

So i sum up all the problems regarding android system battery drain in s7 edge and after applying this settings i got my battery running normal again.solutions are as follows

1. Clear data from google services
2. Force stop chrome , facebook
3. Smart alert off
4. In oreo restrict background usage of android system
5. Check that your cell signal are not low
6. Wifi always turn on select never
7. Google backup off

I applied all those settings and in upcomming time i will check what was the give culprit

Also one thing i noticed, when the phone first boots after completely factory resetting the phone there is no standby battery drain but after connecting to the network and completing usual setup like logging in accounts and installing apps the standby battery drain starts.

Are you actually asking about the S7 edge? That's a 10 year old phone, so it would not be unusual for the battery to be quite degraded by now.

Yes. I had the battery replaced by Samsung in 2024 but still the battery drain issue was not fixed even after recalibrating the new battery. Thats when i knew something's wrong with the OS and when i started exploring i found out that Android oreo on this phone runs bad and very poorly optimised and there is this thing called "Android System" app and cell standby which causes huge battery drain even when the phone is turned off. I checked it myself using GSam battery monitor and it was indeed the culprit. But don't know how to fix it as there is no way to unlock bootloader of Samsung phones released/purchased in the USA. And you also cant root it. Some say the battery drain was fixed by flashing the CP file from the nougat ROM but when i tried that the phone threw a warning right when it started to boot "QUALCOMM SECURE BOOT" something something

Does GSam have a battery health feature? If not, then try using AccuBattery and see what it tells you about the battery health. Anything <85% indicates a fairly degraded battery -- this could still be the case with a replacement battery from Samsung, since that battery may have been sitting around on a shelf for years (or perhaps Samsung used a refurbished or repurposed battery).

Also, how is your cell signal? If it's only 1-2 bars, that can lead to significant drain as the phone struggles to latch on to signal. This can happen even when connected to wi-fi.

Already did that accubattery thing, it reported 94% battery health. I usually get around 3 bars inside my room and easily 4 bars outside, actually i'm not using a SIM card in the phone from few days i've put that SIM card in one of my spare phones just to see and check this very exact thing you told but still battery drain persists.
