Just tried dirty reflash. Wiped cache & Dalvic, then flashed the ROM (the latest stable thekraven, I believe) and gapps. A lot of interesting things happened and I think it cleared out a lot of dead wood, so to speak, BUT...Superuser did not return. Back to square one... Oops! not quite...
