The pertinent question is could someone have changed the EXIF data to read AAC, H.264, but the player recognizes that the codec is really unknown because the video has been secretly edited.

What can you see that gives away video editing? To me it looks like a tranasposed image because if you look at the space between the arm and body, you don't see the area behind the entity.
