Why is there a discrepancy between codec information on Note 8?

I own a Note 8 and I want to know why the details in a particular video while it is played shows codec information as "unknown," while the EXIF data is correctly shows H264.

I am asking because I think someone has altered the video in question.

Any information would be helpful.

Yes, I play the video in Samsung gallery and look at details while it is playing. It says Codec unknown.

I have recently. I turned GPS coordinates on. However, other video taken that day do not have the unknown codec.

There is a puppet looking thing in the upper right of the video. It appears to be a ghost. We did not see it in the room when we were there. I took the video. Found it when looking at video the next day. One theory is I think someone edited my video and is hoaxing me.

Perhaps the file manager has trouble because there may be a minor problem with the file. If I was using a PC I would use one of many video analysers and rely on those results

I'm not seeing what you mean, but you can reset the camera app in settings of it and test again

When I play the video and I look at the details the codecs are labeled unknown, unknown. They should read AAC, and h.264

That's strange, maybe clear data,cache, force stop the camera app

Things don't get edit by themselves , either user not knowing or apps or application on the phone can change these things
