Hmm. I contact LG and they said it should be tagging objects in the background as well. If you look at the link below, you'll see that once the AI cam is toggled, all these words start flashing on the screen as the AI feature attempts to identify everything it sees...

I purchased an LG V35 from Amazon. It's the Alexa version and I'm using AT&T. Everything is fine but the AI cam seems to not work the way I've seen other phones work on Youtube. When I toggle the AI cam and point it at an object, it seems to only be able to detect the object but nothing else...
