Guess it depends on your definition of "modern". It works great with my Note 20 Ultra 5G. They skipped the next Note and then went on to release the S22 Ultra as its replacement. If AA requires phones and head units be newer than 2 years old, the damn platform is doomed

I must not have explained it very well. I have tried it wired and wireless. Hell, 99% of my testing has been wired

My head unit doesn't have wifi support, so I connect with a cable. That said, I do have that Motorola MA1 dongle that converts it to wireless AA. I tried that after connecting with a cable (by the way, music plays from AA and you can tell things are working, but you can't see it on the head unit...

Not sure. The common denominator still seems to be the S22 Ultra. Plug the latest- greatest handset, or even a newer but last gen phone like the Note 20 ultra (pick one. Any one), and they work.

There's a guy on one of the help forums that took an S22 Ultra with a cable in to a car audio store and tried Android auto on multiple units. None of the Pioneer units worked, and only 25% of Kenwood worked.

LOL @ "older head units". In 2024, when your Subaru is considered old by your standards, let's see how you feel about that. Also, keeping AA reliable and open doesn't stall development. It keeps it relevant
