who is you phone provider? as said its a setting that you can turn on/off. mine is vodafone uk and to listen to messages its 121 send. then the voice message gives you the option to listen to message, setup message, turn on/off or help menu.

updated last night and all went well so thanks for feedback above. only thing it wiped was the dark wallpaper that isnt an option on the phone now so just got one from Zedge.
