For the blank screen: try clearing data for both of those apps. I know that works for at least Gmail. Dunno about Facebook :p (menu -> apps -> manage apps -> Gmail -> clear data) Shoutout to TheKraven for keeping this phone alive and relevant, great work man!

This application is for the LG Optimus S and I have only tested it with LG based froyo. If you use it with any different phone or firmware you may get undesirable results or it will just not work at all.
