A Chromebook 2 in 1 will be much bigger than a Nexus 7, and much heavier as well. Still, it's also more useful, and a 10 inch one won't be all that much of a difference.

Or you can just set up CEC and control your TV and sound bar with the SHIELD controller or remote. 😎. Used to love my Harmony Touch, but CEC is faster, more reliable, and doesn't require me to keep a Windows machine around to configure it.

The new 16 GB model has no IR sensor, a Harmony 650, which is IR only, won't be able to control it.

CEC is your friend. Enable it on your SHIELD and your TV and they can work together. Once I was able to do that I ditched my Harmony (which was getting too slow for me anyway).

You could use Google Play Music and let it cache locally. It uses a custom file format that seems to be very space efficient. I have the 64 GB model with a 300 song playlist saved on the device. I'm only using 32 out of the 64 GB.

The Acer R13 has a Micro SD slot so it can't be that one.

Again, not enough information. But in general, no. The SHIELD isn't a cable box. You can stream anything you can find an app for, and that includes some live TV, and some local channels. But not all.

I got the R11 a while back. The Asus should be a little less bulky, it's a little smaller. Otherwise the two are very similar performance wise.

Closest thing to what you're looking for is the 360 degree hinge convertibles like the Acer R13. Chromebooks seem to be going with that form factor rather than imitating the Surface line. Not sure if it's cost reasons or simply a lack of a desire to emulate Microsoft.

However, it's not officially supported on Verizon, so don't look for any help from Verizon or ZTE getting it to work on Verizon. And some people have had huge problems trying to get it to work.

However, you may have issues getting your Chromecast to work on a hotel's WiFi, most of which require logins, and most of which also disallow direct connections between WiFi devices on the same SSID.

Of course, They make money off of them in other ways anyway.

My own battery life has been excellent for the most part. I can get a good 5 hours of screen-on-time without trying very hard.
