Touch Wiz is a pretty decent launcher, though I don't have it on my current phone. Maybe I should change that. :)

I was having problems with Google Play earlier today, it's working now, could it have been just a connection error? Or are you still having problems getting into Google Play?

Did you try letting it charge for a couple hours and see if it charge at all? If something like this happens I tend to just charge it for a 2-3 hours and see if the battery gets charged. I really don't mind if the phone doesn't indicate it's charging or not if it still does the job.

Yeah this similar thing happened to me after I downloaded some free games from unknown publishers. Once I deleted them, the problems went away. You just need to install apps that are at least somewhat known, also, read the reviews, they'll usually tell you what's wrong with the game/app.

I've used a broken phone before and I managed. I know it's annoying to have a broken screen, but i you can still use it, I say get a cheap case and you should be fine.

Are these dots appearing as you touch the screen with the spen? Because some devices will show a round circle when you touch the screen. That's just a guess though. Or Are the dots appearing everywhere on screen? If so, I honestly don't know.

Hey there. What I usually do when stuff like this happens, is to delete apps I don't need or use anymore. Also, you may need to update certain apps, that could be doing it. Do you have any shovelware apps that are just taking up space? If so, delete those.
