If you're using Nova Launcher, you have the option to make those icons dark. It's under the look and feel section in launcher settings.

Here's my latest. Pretty simple and clean compared to some of the layouts I've had.

I have developer options enabled, but am not seeing the change icon shape option anywhere. Am I just overlooking it, or is there a further step I need to take?

I've had one of their full-body skins on my Pixel since last November. Installation can be a bit tricky, but it's not overly difficult. I've had no peeling issues since putting it on my Pixel.

To each his own 😉 I'm a big fan of color, and I change my homescreen so often that it rarely bothers my eyes.
