This is incorrect. Whatsapp is very much supported.

You have to remember what "stock" Android means ... While fewer customizations theoretically means shorter development and testing time, updates aren't pushed until they're pushed. (That's true for any manufacturer.) Generally speaking? Sure. But in reality, it's ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
