The kinda-official LG G4 bootloop thread

Mine never got too cold, as far as I could tell (I never saw it fail to try and power up). I would usually try to boot it with it still in the freezer, since it normally gets warm while starting up. I didn't worry too much about the temperature. I figure it should be able to survive cold...

The kinda-official LG G4 bootloop thread

I don't know of another way to get the files off, though I didn't have to dig into it further. I'd expect that rooting a phone that won't boot is likely quite difficult, but I don't know. The freezer trick worked for me for a while. But just before mailing it back, I was about to do a factory...

    Vibrate feels funny

This makes sense to me. Going through official channels might help avoid problems if you needed the warranty in the future. The vibrate on mine started to feel weird after a few months. Kind of "loose", like there would sometimes be a small click when it would start to vibrate. It felt like...

The kinda-official LG G4 bootloop thread

My G4 bootlooped 2 days ago, out of the blue. It's a Verizon VS986, the box says it was built in May 2015, I believe the serial number starts with 505. It's hardware rev 1.0. It rebooted and kept doing that continuously. Pulling the battery and trying again was no different. I then pulled the...

    Pixilated images when zooming in

Are you zooming in already before you take the picture? If so, that's just a digital zoom, and the image will look worse than normal, more pixelated.

can't see screen with polarized lenses on

My wife's iPhone (5S, I think) has an LCD and the screen goes black if you hold it sideways with polarized glasses. I believe iPhones also exhibit this behavior. But maybe that angle combination for your iPhone and glasses is "compatible", for lack of a better word. When I have to slide my...

can't see screen with polarized lenses on

The 5X screen is an LCD, so that is not a surprise. The 6P uses an AMOLED screen, which should be viewable sideways with polarized glasses.

    LG G4 charging very slowly!

There are a number of threads about this, the phone will charge very slowly once it warms up. Keep it cool (I tested using an air conditioner), and it will charge at the full speed of the stock charger (1600mA) even with the screen on. But let it get too warm, and it will slow to about 300mA...

Not a case - a back with grip?

I have the red and orange leather. The grain on the orange makes it a little grippier, albeit not perfect. I tried using leather conditioner on both, with no change. But I have not tried using alcohol. I have the Spigen Slim case, it has a matte finish which is easier to grip than the smooth...

    Keeping screen at 100% brightness

I think people have said that Lux can force the screen to stay at 100%, even if the phone is going over-temperature.

    LG G4 RAW Images

I don't think GIMP will open RAW directly, at least not on a PC (Mac sounds a bit different). But you can open a RAW file first using something else, and save it into a format that GIMP can use. Like TIFF, as an example.

    LG G4 RAW Images

Thanks for the top on RAW Therapy, I'll have to look that up. ufRAW is another free program you could try, for working with RAW files. Also, GIMP is a free program that has capabilities more like Photoshop, if you want to do more editing.

    Camera's inability to focus

+1. I've seen people talking about replacing the camera yourself, I seem to recall the camera unit isn't very expensive (~$25 on eBay?).

Phone no longer answers when put to ear.

My screen stays on if at the Home screen and then I cover the proximity sensor. You can make sure the accelerometers (orientation sensors) are working by checking whether the Rotation function works, like when viewing pics, or in Chrome, etc.

    Couple of "low timer" questions

I guess, can you fix it in Manual, using white balance? If so, that would imply to me that the sensor is OK, and it's just what the camera is choosing when in Auto. I can't offer comparison photos like you're describing, but it seems reasonable to me that yes, different cameras will make...
