Well there were talks of this happening on May 2, but it was shot down. Not sure if it'll ever happen now that they're getting way over their prime.

I also liked the QWERTY physical keyboard. I came from a Droid 3 and now have a G2 - I love the G2 but still make way more mistakes on the G2 than I did with the physical keyboard. The only savior is the autocorrect - but sometimes it's "too smart" in that it changes words I meant to type.

I would try the app Smart Screen Off. I've read about it (haven't tried it yet though) but also have the same problems. It assumes that since it's dark, the phone is up by your ear and turns off the screen. It should be a setting or only do it when the phone is dialing IMHO.
