Why does my phone turn off in a dark area?

No matter what brightness i have, as soon as i go to a dark area (say in a room at night, were its really dark) it turns off autimatically, is there any type of setting to turn that off?

Welcome to Android Central! Do you have any 3rd party screen dimming apps installed, like Lux?

I would try the app Smart Screen Off. I've read about it (haven't tried it yet though) but also have the same problems. It assumes that since it's dark, the phone is up by your ear and turns off the screen. It should be a setting or only do it when the phone is dialing IMHO.
