Strangely enough it works perfectly with my roommates Toshiba TV but does the same thing on another roommates Panasonic as it does on mine

Is there any easy way to check if the IR Blaster works?

It's a Samsung and it is about 3 years old

I tried 5 different codes and they all varied on which buttons worked but none of the buttons ever did their intended function. They would just turn the TV off. They didn't turn the TV back on though.

I've tried the first code and one other and they both do the same. Do you think it's worth trying more codes?
