I got the OTA last night. Haven't noticed anything different yet.

Best Way To Charge Pixel To Maintain Battery Life

Another thing that helps is to use a slower charger when possible. If you charge overnight, use a 500ma or 1a charger instead of the stock charger. The slower charge is kinder to the battery and also builds less heat (which is also better).

Verizon Visual Voicemail on Pixel XL

Just checked, still there for me (GS Pixel on VZW).

wifi scanning and bluetooth scanning question

The scanning setting is NOT related to the phone auto-finding wifi network when wifi is on. The setting determines whether the phone will scan for wifi networks periodically when wifi is OFF (used for location services).

Few odds and ends to figure out with the pixel

The nine widget definitely displays it correctly on the Pixel launcher for my phone. IIRC, the app icon doesn't, only the widget does.

    Google Pixel SCRATCHED EASILY!

I'd say the glass scratches a bit more easily than it should... My previous phone had an earlier iteration of gorilla glass and I carried it the same way for 3 years. Not a single mark on the display. The pixel has marks on the back glass and a couple around the earpiece up front after only 5...

Few odds and ends to figure out with the pixel

For those complaining about no numbers for unread emails, etc: the pixel launcher will show them if the app icon / widget supports it. Nine has a widget that properly displays the number of unread emails in your inbox. It should be possible for other email apps as well.

    Google Pixel SCRATCHED EASILY!

Mine lives naked when it's out of the belt holster. It's got a few very light scratches on the back glass from who-knows-what. I do wonder if the scratches are actually in the glass or just the oleophobic coating though. As long as they're not noticeable over the display and there aren't any...

The Pixel is a nice looking phone but I prefer the Priv

Any kind of encryption can be cracked. However, if it's good encryption, then by the time someone manages to crack that stolen SD card's encryption, it should have taken long enough that the data on the card is years old and no longer terribly useful. FWIW, The PRIV did get updated to...

The Pixel is a nice looking phone but I prefer the Priv

And all of those complaints come back around to why I say the Priv would be a good phone if we got a Priv 2 that was basically a Pixel in a Priv's body (maybe with a slightly better physical keyboard).

The Pixel is a nice looking phone but I prefer the Priv

The keyboard may be old tech, but especially in the winter with cold fingers, a physical keyboard is often faster than the on-screen one. Plus, the screen ends up being effectively bigger, as you don't lose screen space to the keyboard when typing.

    Leaving Samsung?

Except for the people who don't use most of those features. It's one of those "matters to some people but not everyone" kind of things.

Pixel - Signal dropping (Update: Google Knows)

Looks like there's an OTA listed for NMF26Q as well. I wonder if that means it'll get pushed out automatically?

Would you get rid of S7 edge for a pixel xl?

In the video preview, the Pixel photo looks underexposed. As if it metered on the bright sky instead of the person. The other phones appear to expose the person better at the expense of overexposing some of the background.
