With the Optimus V I had CM7 installed, and it had an option for long-press volume-up to skip tracks, and volume-down would go back a track. But since I listen to mostly podcasts, I went in with root explorer and changed the physical search button to be fast-forward to get past boring parts...

I'm rooted as well, so install should be easy, but I had a thought. I know the old Swype beta had a time limit, and after it expired you had to update or it wouldn't work. Is this still the case with the beta? If so, I'd rather just stick with the preinstalled version.
