I like the 2 finger pull down quick settings. Yeah. I'd like a battery percentage too. It shows up perfectly how I want while charging, though. Maybe someone will make a small app that will enable it that way.
You should do a manual update yourself. I did that with my Nexus 5. Fresh install of factory image (yes, you lose your data, but you'll have a fresh install experience). Couldn't wait for the OTA. Not sure it would have turned out as well anyway.
