Cover is removable. Take the rubber feet of each corner of the back cover of the charger. Remove the screws that are where the feet were. Then remove the cover by pushing it back down through the charger while pushing against the hinge edge of the door to push the hinge out of its socket...

The corners do look like the weak link on this case. I have been a bit worried about mine tearing.

I have a "Case Logic" card case that zips that I bought at Wally World. This looks like what I have: Case Logic Digital Media case > Photo and Video > Case Logic Been using it to carry spare batteries for several years.

I stopped by my local vzw store and scored two. They did not have any in back just in the front case behind the counter. Charging one as I type. I plan to sell my 2 standard batteries to cover some of the cost.

I left the store with my nexus only to return 30 minutes later because I found myself afraid to take the phone out of my pocket for fear I was going to drop it. Never had a case for my Palms or for my OG but bought the Incipio case from vzw and love it!
