Well, I tore it down, removed the SIM/SD card reader unit, put it back, put everything back together... fired it up... and... no change haha. I went ahead and ordered a replacement part off Amazon for $7 and I also bought a refurbished unit off eBay for $105 since I love the Note 4 so much...

Right - as predicted, my wife's SIM card did not work either. I agree with you - it must be hardware related. I also tried flashing the modem to no avail (I restored my original modem drivers eventually). I've seen some tear-downs on YouTube... what will it take to repair this SIM card module...

Thanks for your reply - I will try another SIM card. I could try going to a Samsung kiosk to see if they could test for the SIM module being an issue...

Just got back from a T-Mobile store and they put a fresh SIM card in just for fun... no change with my issues :(
