Sorry, I figured it out. If I pull down the information drawer from the top of the screen while in a call and click on the phone app it takes me to the dialer that allows me to press keys and create DTFM tones.

I am with AT&T. If I place a call, leave the call screen and return to the dial pad, I am unable to create DTFM tones with the dial pad. Coming back to the dial pad forces you to "dial to add call" meaning pressing the dial pad keys only inputs a number to call - not create DTFM tones...

Thank you. Yes, I tried that option too as I have a smart watch. It was actually the first Smart Lock option I tried right after unboxing my S8+. Unfortunately my smart watch isn't very smart... I have a Garmin Fenix 5 and for some reason it cannot be added or recognized.
