Maybe you could try rebooting your phone and computer, it took me a couple tries and reboots to get it to work on my phone

Hmmm I believe it's the most newb-friendly method to gain root access. I personally used it myself so I can't tell you what the other methods were like, sorry. And the only purpose of rooting right now is to get a backup, as once you get the froyo package from droidxcon working, you'll be rooted...

In order to do titanium backup you'll need to root. So yes, use the one click method if you want FIRST and then download and install titanium backup and back everything up. Then head over to the [Odin] Full eb01/eb16 leak thread, follow those directions and you should be golden
