Google has also become far more controlling. I only have the one google account and I've disabled the sync. Admittedly there may be different solutions for different Android phones, but the problem seems fairly generic with Samsung at least. With this bug, you cannot even choose not to update...
After the latest (forced) Samsung update, my phone does the same. However many times I tell it not to update, as soon as it is rebooted it resets to update over wifi only. The new Samsung update has actually screwed so many things on my phone (not to mention the bloatware) that I will be going...
Re: First thing I don't like.. The alarm clock
I don't find the stock alarm or various replacements I've tried to be reliable enough or quick enough. For important alarms, I still use my old iPhone which (sadly) I continue to carry as well. The settings are simple and the alarm is loud and...
I don't use one. The official advice in the Samsung guide that came with my phone was not to use them (didn't stop the shop trying to sell them).

I get several shutdowns or reboots a day but so far they have not been too critical (eg mid-call). I have three different batteries which I switch sometimes for travelling (when there is no power socket available) or just for convenience. They all seem to fit well although I've heard cheap...
I use a Samsung Note II but have kept my old (old 3Gs) iPhone. Both seem to have advantages and disadvantages. The iPhone apps, probably being simpler to design for a single platform, seem more robust, cheaper and better value overall (I can't say the same for apps on a MacBook). There's no...
I'm also wondering what the score is with Google ads. Not from apps, just popping up from nowhere and taking over the screen. The info button identifies them as google. I've tried various ad removers but none seemed to prevent them. Driving us back to iPhones??
